Sunderland finally returned to the win column on Good Friday as they secured a 2-0 victory over Cardiff City. 

Adil Aouchiche and Jobe Bellingham gave interim head coach Mike Dodds his first win of his current spell in charge at the sixth time of asking as Sunderland secured their first away win of 2024 to bring an end to their bleak run of form. 

Aouchiche converted from the penalty spot before assisting Jobe for his seventh goal of the season as Dodds and his side enjoyed what has been an all too rare success on their travels in South Wales.

Jobe won the penalty in which Aouchiche converted before adding to his goal tally this season as part of what was an inspired performance from the teenager. Jobe, signed in the summer from Birmingham City, admitted after the game he is still to establish his preferred position but did this performance cement his spot as Sunderland's starting striker for the remaining seven games of the season?
