The latest We Are Sunderland briefing reflects on Sunderland's under-21s and their impressive Premier League 2 campaign following their play-off final with Tottenham Hotspur as well as Southampton's interest in Jack Clarke, as the club's head coach search reaches its 100-day milestone.

Graeme Murty's under-21s side have been the talk of Wearside over the course of the last number of weeks as the club's academy progressed to the final of the Premier League 2 play-offs following a remarkable campaign.

Murty's team made the trip to North London and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to take on Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday's final where they came up narrowly short in a 3-1 defeat.

There is also talk on Sunderland's player of the year, Clarke, after news of Southampton's interest emerged at We Are Sunderland earlier this week. Clarke is a leading target for Russell Martin after Southampton secured promotion back to the Premier League in the Championship play-off final with Sunderland bracing themselves for a formal approach for the 23-year-old winger. Can Sunderland keep hold of Clarke or is it time to cash in?

Meanwhile, the club's search for a new head coach remains ongoing as it has now reached 100 days since Michael Beale's sacking in February. The club continues to narrow down its search with an acceptance that an appointment must be made soon before players return for duty later this summer.
