It's been a positive week for Sunderland on the back of Régis Le Bris' appointment at the Stadium of Light.

Le Bris officially took charge on Monday after meeting his new squad of players for the first time over the weekend having also met supporters at the club's recent new club shop opening.

Sunderland presented their new club store last week which coincided with the launch of the new Hummel home kit in what has proved a hugely popular move to team up with the club's former kit manufacturer. Le Bris was joined by owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, sporting director Kristjaan Speakman and chief business officer David Bruce at the launch and was on hand to meet and greet supporters.

The launch came the same week as the club's 2024-25 Championship fixture list was revealed as well as the first summer addition to the squad with experienced goalkeeper Simon Moore joining as back-up to Anthony Patterson following a number of goalkeeping changes with both Alex Bass and Nathan Bishop departing.

And Sunderland's productive week has continued with the significant news of Chris Rigg soon to agree his first professional deal with the club. Rigg, it's understood, will pen a three-year contract at the Stadium of Light with Sunderland set to beat interest from several elite clubs to retain the services of the midfielder on a long-term basis.

Rigg enjoyed a breakout season for Sunderland last year, making his first Championship start and scoring his first goals for the club - becoming the club's youngest ever goalscorer in the process.

Matty Hewitt and Joe Ramage sit down in the latest We Are Sunderland briefing to reflect on the recent good news at the Stadium of Light as pre-season preparations get under way for the new campaign as well as the importance of Rigg agreeing to stay on Wearside.
